Film Poster: Creation

Creating your Film Poster

Once you have decided on your idea for your film you now need to begin drafting ideas for a film poster within the action/adventure genre.

TASK: Create a mood-board of images that you may want to use for a film poster.
- Backgrounds
- Actors (you may use images of yourself but these must be taken out of lesson)
- Objects, props etc.
- Colours
- Settings

NEXT STEPS: Once you have your mood-board, open Photoshop and follow the instructions below.

Click New and make sure you have the following settings selected.

International Paper
A4
Colour
Resolution 300

Click Ok > You will then see your film poster.

To place an image you can either copy and paste or insert and drag and drop it into your document.

All the tools you will need are on the left of your screen; I can help with more complicated decisions.

Ensure it looks professional as this is an assessed piece of work.

REQUIREMENTS (minimum):

Image(s)
Title of film
Tagline
Actors Names

"Sir, I have finished my work!"

If you think you have finished you should be able to confidently answer these questions, if you cannot you need to revisit your Film Poster.

1. Why have you chosen the font and colour for your title?
2. How does the background image link with the story?
3. How have you made it clear who the protagonist is?
4. Have you hinted at an antagonist? (Bad guy, disastrous event, obstacle to overcome)
5. What actors have you selected and why are they a good fit for your film idea?
6. How are you making your film intriguing to the audience?
