Creating a Double Page Feature Article

For your GCSE coursework next year you may possibly be given a brief to create a magazine targeted at a specific audience about a specific topic. As we are nearing the end of Year 9 and about to start the GCSE course in September, we thought it would be wise to use this time for you to practice both your Photoshop skills and your understanding of how audiences engage with Media.

In today's lesson and over the last two weeks you will be creating a magazine feature article (see below) about a fictional YouTuber.

Your feature article will be a double page spread for a magazine aimed at 14-18 year olds about your fictional YouTuber that you will create. 

Your article MUST include the following:
- Masthead (title)

- An image

- Copy (text)

- Strapline (a line of text that intrigues the reader)

- Standfirst (A large letter than informs the audience where to begin reading from.

Advice:

Make your title intriguing; think of persuasive techniques.

Your image needs to be high quality; think about the layout of your article.

Your copy must be tailored for your audience and should be informative and entertaining.

Your strapline needs to inform the reader about the article and ensure they read it.

Your standfirst must be placed at the first word of the start of your text.

TASK: Using plain A4 paper (folded in half) design your feature article about your chosen YouTube.

- You will need to conduct research about your YouTuber to enable you to write a minimum of 400 words.
- Think carefully about the magazine conventions and how you are going to appeal to your readers.

Ensure that you set your paper size to Interntational Paper > A3 and have it landscape to ensure it has the dimensions of a feature article.
